SAP Testing involves the validation of the functionality of different SAP modules in order to confirm that they perform as intended.QA engineers execute different types of testing in SAP whenever there are changes within this ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software such as implementing new modules, fixes and patch management and updating configurations. SAP testing methodology is output-based.

A typical
SAP Testing training program follows the different types of SAP Testing as modules. The different types of SAP Testing are listed as below:

  • Unit Testing

This is the testing of interfaces, conversions, enhancement, reports, work flows and forms developed primarily with ABAP code. Testing of development object includes testing for security authorization, reconciliations, batch scheduling jobs and data transfer rules.

  • Integration Testing

The combined components of a SAP application when tested in order to determine whether they function correctly together are known as integration testing. The integration testing uses realistic test data and is typically done in the QA environment.

  • Regression Testing

The execution of regression testing usually takes place by the testing team using the automation tool. Regression testing can occur in three cases- (i) when new interfaces are added, (ii) whenever new updates are configured and (iii) when new patches are applied.

  • Performance Testing

This testing is to check if the SAP software is performing as expected. Sometimes due to high batch volumes or transactions there might be stress in the business processes. Performance testing checks these types of anomalies in business processes.

  • Functional Testing

Functional Testing is done to check whether the SAP implementation is as per business requirements. Here the uncertainty over business use cases is removed and hence the quality is increased. This is done by a review of the design documents and the creation of test artifacts including the test requirements, test cases and test scenario.

  • User Acceptance Testing

This is done to ensure whether all the end users of the system are able to use the SAP system or not. The user acceptance test cases which include functions, testing business processes, documentations, etc. are executed by the end users independently.

  • Security Testing

Security Testing helps to ensure the safety of SAP applications. It makes sure that only authorized system users can access appropriate data and execute relevant transactions.

  • Portal Testing

Portal testing techniques include checking the business processes and testing the SAP portals on different browsers.
